Library Thing

I thought I’d share with everyone a fabulous site that I use to keep track of the books that I’ve read:
Library Thing
I have many more titles to add, which seems a bit overwhelming. It’s such a great spot to keep track of what you’ve read over a life time. I often have students mention that they’ve picked up a book, only to find out that they’d forgotten that they’ve already read it! Perhaps you can start your own catalog on Library Thing. Also, take a look at the Book Suggester, under the “Suggestions link.

I use Shelfari and my “handle” is cmasson50. Dottie and I are friends on it. I sure wish we had a aggregator for all of these great sites to list our books as well. I hear that Mrs. Largeswope uses a different one. We should all discuss the pros and cons of the different ones. The biggest problem is keeping it up-to-date, right! Perhaps we need to figure out which one is the best and all switch to it. . .
I use Library Thing also. It was interesting to see the difference between what a HS librarian reads compared to a MS librarian : http://www.librarything.com/catalog/splattbooks – BIG difference!! I want to play around with Library Thing more and see if there is a way to sort my books so that if I put it on my library site I could lead kids to different “tabs” for different types of recommendations. Has anyone played with it like this before??
